Katherine Froehlich-Grobe, PhD

Please welcome Dr. Katherine Froehlich-Grobe to the UTSPH Dallas Regional Campus. She is trained as a behavioral psychologist and received her PhD degree from the Department of Applied Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas. She is passionate about pursuing research which will promote the health and function of people with physical disabilities.

Her research program includes: developing and assessing health promotion interventions to assist individuals with behavior change; investigating barriers to health promotion and community participation, including environmental barriers; and methodological improvements to appropriately assess the health status of people with physical disabilities. She is currently completing data collection on a randomized controlled trial (NIH grant #R01 HD04628) that assesses the effectiveness of promoting adoption and maintenance of aerobic exercise over 12 months for wheelchair users.

At the Dallas Campus, Dr.  Froehlich-Grobe will pursue new collaborative relationships with public health entities across D/FW metro and Texas and apply for federal funding to support efforts to assure that people with disabilities are included in public health activities in Texas, while continuing her ongoing line of research.

Most recently, she was an Associate Research Professor at the Gerontology Center of the Schiefelbusch Life-Span Institute at the University of Kansas.
