<< BackChu-Lin Tsai, MD, MPH, ScD
Please welcome Dr. Chu-Lin Tsai to the Division of Epidemiology, Human Genetics and Environmental Sciences at the Houston Campus. Dr. Chu is a graduate of the medical school at National Taiwan University. He received his MPH from Johns Hopkins and ScD from the Harvard School of Public Health. Most recently, he was a research fellow in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and a post-doc in the Channing Lab at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Tsai’s research interests lie at the interface of epidemiologic methods and clinical medicine. Specifically, he applies a wide range of methodologies (e.g., predictive modeling , propensity scores, meta-analysis) to study the prognostic factors and treatment effects in a variety of emergency conditions, such as exacerbation of asthma/COPD. He is also interested in health services and outcomes research, especially in the areas of quality and safety of care and disparities issues.
Currently, Dr. Tsai is working on grant applications looking at utilization and quality of care among selected emergency conditions to better understand the determinants of access to care and areas for quality improvement. He is excited to help with the clinical epidemiology curriculum at the SPH and looks forward to collaborating with investigators across the TMC.
